Ludworth Tower, Durham - Ludworth Tower was originally a medieval manor house, founded by the de Ludworth family. Sadly time has not been kind as only a few fragments of this building now survive as most of it collapsed in 1890.

Sycamore Gap, Northumberland 01 - This is probably the most photographed spot in the whole of Northumberland National Park. Here, a sycamore tree grows in a dramatic dip with Hadrian’s Wall rising up either side. Also made famous by the film ‘Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves’

$Mission 1101 `Tommy` - The steel statue, by local artist Ray Lonsdale, was so popular that people in Seaham began a campaign to buy it.\r\nThe piece, called 1101 but know locally as Tommy, was inspired by World War One and is named to reflect the first minute of peace.$

Fiddlers Green - The impressive sculpture, by local artist Ray Lonsdale, named Fiddler’s Green, stands 10ft 6ins tall and is located near the fish quay in North Shields. The memorial is in honour of those fishermen who died doing their job after leaving the port.

The water wheel at Killhope lead mine, Weardale - One of the main features of the reconstructed mine is the Killhope Wheel, a 10-metre-diameter metal waterwheel. This was constructed by the Tyneside firm of William Armstrong.

$Killhope lead mine at sunrise - The mining of lead ore took place here from 1818 until 1910 when production ceased, although it was briefly reopened in 1916. It lay derelict for over 60 years \u0026 fell into decay until the local council started a restoration programme in 1980.$

South Shields lifeboat - This is the old lifeboat in South Shields which is Britain’s second oldest preserved lifeboat. The boat, built by J.Oliver from South Shields in 1833, served the town for more than 60 years, with her crews saving the lives of 1,028 people.

$Alnwick Castle, Northumberland - The castle sits on the River Aln in the rural town of Alnwick \u0026 has been the setting for a number of movies, possibly the most remembered is Harry Potter. The castle is occupied by the current Duke of Northumberland \u0026 his family.$

High above the valley - This lone tree sits high above the village of Malham in the Yorkshire Dales.

Terris Novalis - Situated on the coast to coast cycle route, the amazing stainless steel sculptures by Turner Prize winning artist Tony Cragg dominate the landscape above the old Consett Steelworks site.

Armstrong Bridge - Armstrong Bridge was unique in its time, as it was designed to overcome subsidence problems arising from local mining in the Ouseburn Valley and Jesmond Dene. It crosses the River Ouseburn and connects the Newcastle suburbs of Heaton and Jesmond.

Brough Castle - Brough Castle is a ruined castle in the village of Brough, Cumbria, England. The castle was built by William Rufus around 1092 within the old Roman fort of Verterae to protect a key route through the Pennine Mountains.

Groverake mine, Weardale - This mine in a remote part of Weardale was first in operation in the 18th century, initially mining for iron ore but this was not as productive as had been hoped so they later switched to mining for fluorspar until the closure in 1999.

Causey Arch - The Causey Arch is a bridge near Stanley in County Durham. It is the oldest surviving single-arch railway bridge in the world. When the bridge was completed in 1726, it was the longest single-span bridge in the country.

Crammel Linn, Gilsland. - Not many venture to this lovely spot due to its remote location near Gilsland but it is well worth the trek across boggy ground to witness Northumberland`s biggest waterfall.

Cawfields Quarry - Cawfields is a former quarry cutting dramatically through the Wall and the underlying Whin Sill dolerite bedrock. It comprises a large pond and car park with good walking access to Milecastle 42 on the Roman Wall.
